Pull Cord Bagette                 $ 29.95         Buy It

Lose some weight!

Tired of carrying a full-size cord just to pull down that one long rappel? Switch to a pull cord! By carrying a small-diameter cord, you can save a bunch of weight, or have extra versatility while not carrying more than you really have to.

The Imlay Pull Cord Bagette   is a sophisticated bag for managing a small-diameter pull-cord. Designed for 200 feet (60 meters) of 6mm Accessory Cord, the Bagette makes stacking the cord in the bag easy, and deployment even easier. The flared shape and the even-more-flared top rim make it easy to stack the rope in there quickly.

How much weight does it save?

Three pounds, six.five ounces.

A regular 8mm x 200 foot rope weighs 6 lb 11 oz. With a Rope Silo, that's 7 lb, 15 oz. A 6mm x 200 foot pull cord weighs 4 lb, 1 oz. The bag weighs 7.4 oz, so Pull Cord and bag weighs 4 lb 8.4 oz, a full 3 lb 6.5 oz less than a full size rope - AND at about half the bulk.

The handles make it easy for your partner to hold it open, or clip one handle to your harness and stack it yourself. With burly flow-through mesh for wet conditions, a bit of foam for floatation, a bottom grommet and mid-bag tie-in point, plus a strap on the outside to help hold it in place on your pack, this is one ultra-nice Bagette!

When NOT to use a Pull Cord:   While I am enthusiastic about using pull cords, they should be used with caution. NOT having a real rope available for rescue or lowering, or as a backup in case of rope damage, could put a serious damper on your day. Be smart, and use a pull cord ONLY when: A. all members of the party are experienced and have good rappelling skills; B. the group is small so carrying the extra rope (of two full length strands) is an actual burden; and C. nothing will go wrong. In no case should your 6mm pull cord be used for rappelling directly, or as a rescue rope.

Sized to fit a 60m x 6mm cord
11" tall by about 7" diameter
Colors: Red, Tan or Teal.
